Description

Schedule:  Full-Time (32hrs per week):  Weekend (Sat - Sun) 7am-7pm  & One (8hr) shift (Mon - Fri) when needed.

Job Summary

The ED Admissions Clerk is responsible for communicating with patients, participants and staff to accurately register patients for hospital medical services and gather the necessary demographic, insurance and clinical information for the procedure or encounter.
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greets all patients and guests in initiating check in process
  • Monitors waiting room for an appropriate and timely flow of the patients needing to be registered or admitted.
  • Obtains and verified accurate patient identification & demographic data to confirm or update the patient’s record while maintaining confidentiality for information
  • Is responsible for completing registration for all admission processes while providing customer service in person and via phone
  • Show patience and compassion to visitors and patients waiting and/or receiving emergent care.
  • Works directly with Emergency Department staff and other hospital staff to facilitate a positive health care experience for the patient.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
